Make sense of the reports you already get.

Your school shares CAT4 results, GL Progress Test scores and reports full of numbers. These free tools turn those numbers into plain English, so you can have a better conversation with your child's teachers.

Tool 1 · CAT4

CAT4 Score Reader

Most Dubai schools use CAT4 (the Cognitive Abilities Test) in Grades 3, 5, 7 and 9 as part of KHDA's assessment framework. It looks at how a child reasons, not what they have memorised. Enter the Standard Age Scores (SAS) from your child's report. You can leave any box blank.

Enter the scores

The SAS is not a percentage and not an IQ score. 100 is exactly average for a child of the same age.

Your results appear here.

Verbal: thinking with wordsSpotting links and patterns between words and ideas.
Quantitative: thinking with numbersSeeing patterns and relationships in numbers.
Non-verbal: thinking with shapesSolving problems with shapes and patterns, without words.
Spatial: thinking with spacePicturing, turning and combining shapes in the mind.
Good to know: GL Assessment, which publishes CAT4, advises against practice tests, because heavy practice can distort what the test measures. A good night's sleep and knowing what to expect are the best preparation.
Tool 2 · GL Progress Tests

GL Progress Test Reader

GL Progress Tests in English, Maths and Science show what your child has learned in school so far, compared with children of the same age. They use the same SAS scale as CAT4, so 100 is average.

Tool 3 · Side by side

Potential vs Results

Schools often put CAT4 next to Progress Test results to see whether a child's results match their reasoning scores. You can do the same. A gap is not good or bad. It is simply a useful question to bring to your next parent–teacher meeting.

Enter both

Rule of thumb used here: within 1 stanine counts as "in line"; 2 or more is worth a conversation. This is a simple guide, not GL's official measure. Your school's combined report is the official view.

Tool 4 · The week

Weekly Balance & Cost per Hour

A week has 168 hours. Fill in a typical week to see how much is left for rest, family and being a child. Then add your paid activities to see what each hour really costs.
