About the founder

Institutional discipline, applied to adolescent trajectories.

With a background in financial research, quantitative valuation, and sector analysis across the Gulf and Pakistan since 2001, Mariam Nasir brings institutional-grade rigor to educational advisory. Profiles & Possibilities was established to replace guesswork and trend-chasing with structured evaluation frameworks, data-informed trajectory modeling, and objective decision-making.

What began as an intentional, high-performance home curriculum design for her own children expanded organically into an independent advisory practice. Today, Mariam partners with ambitious families to construct clear, highly individualized developmental roadmaps from Year 6 through Year 13—maintaining complete independence, strategic clarity, and an uncompromising focus on long-term outcomes.

Frequently asked questions.

Is this tutoring?

No. P&P does not teach subjects or replace schools, tutors, or coaches. We work at the level of direction: what deserves time, what adds genuine value, and where depth should be built.

Is this a psychological or formal child assessment?

No. P&P provides developmental and strategic advisory. We do not conduct IQ, psychometric, cognitive, diagnostic or clinical assessments, and we do not assess innate talent. We are not a university admissions consultancy and make no promises about admissions, medals or results.

Who is it for?

School, hybrid and home-educating families of young people in Years 6–11 in Dubai, on any curriculum, who want their child’s time and effort to build real capability, not just a fuller calendar.

There’s no time in the week. Is this more on their plate?

No. Your child gives one 60-minute session to start, then under an hour a month, and nothing extra to do at home. Every plan starts by reviewing the whole week, and we often free up time by cutting what isn’t working. Research on organised activities found that what matters is the quality of the hours, not fewer hours.

We already spend on school, tutors and sport. Why add this?

That is the point. One plan, checked every month, makes sure everything else you pay for is worth it, and often shows what to stop. It makes existing spending count.

My child isn’t competitive. Is P&P still for them?

Yes. Competitions are never required. Real skill and finished work come first; competing is added only where the child wants it and is ready. The research on self-control and sparks holds for every child, not just high achievers.

When is the best time to start?

Earlier gives more room to build, which is why we begin at Year 6. But the cycle works at any stage up to Year 11; the plan starts from where the young person is now.

Can we buy just the plan?

No. A plan only works when it is carried out, so every family starts with the Starting Evaluation together with the first term of guidance. After that you continue term by term, and can stop with one month’s notice before the end of a term.

What about university applications?

P&P is not an admissions consultancy. We build the young person; the application follows. At the end of Year 11, and for continuing families in Years 12–13, we prepare a portfolio: years of evidence, projects and reflection that your school counsellor or chosen admissions adviser can work from. We do not write essays or applications.

Does this work outside the British curriculum?

Yes. The framework centres on development, not one system. British year labels guide the journey; milestones are adapted to IB, American, Indian and other curricula. Qualification requirements remain with the school.

What are the fees?

Fees depend on your child’s year group. We share them in our first chat, so you know exactly where you stand before you decide anything. Every family starts with the Starting Evaluation and the first term of guidance, then continues term by term.
